Barn Charm
~~~
This is a new Picture meme for me but I love old barns and farm buildings so I want to share this one here.
~~
This is a log cotton shed that stood, and still stands, on the place where my husband lived as a young boy.
His memories of this place date from the mid-30s. This is in north Alabama.
At the time his family lived there, all the barns and out-buildings and even the house were made of logs.
This is all that remains today of the old log buildings.
We go back every summer to see if the cotton shed is still standing...as of last August, it still was!
what a shame the house isn't still standing, but at least there is still one building - filled with memories.
Wonderful old place Junie! What a different world it was then...sigh...
Wonderful barn post! I live in a log home so I really like this one.
How quaint...I bet this old cotton shed could tell some wild stories!
LOL- Well, there's one story from my husband's days there for sure---check out the link!
I love it! Reminds me of days gone by down on the farm in W. Fla. :)
Yep- probably similar situations...except C. was just a few years ahead of both you and me...He's 6 years older than me. But I also have early memories of Alabama living.
...AND-In fact- did live in a log house when I was real young...
I love old barns and buildings like that! I would so enjoy sitting down with Charles and listen to his stories of those days gone by. The house my dad grew up in is still standing, as well as the chicken coop and storage shed...the house my mom was raised in is no longer there, neither is the barn, sheds, etc, which is such a shame. xoxo
Oh, I so love this image!!! Got to bookmark this blog...sounds like something I might really like!
Hi Junie Rose, I love seeing the old barns on Barn Charm. Tricia is a friend of mine.
Your picture is fabulous.. I am so glad that 'some' of the old farm is still there. I love the old log buildings...
Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Betsy
Fantastic addition to Barn Charm... I love log buildings... they're nice & comfy cozy! =)
Thanks for joining Barn Charm... can't wait to see more of the structures on your husband's childhood homestead! =)
First time visitor from Donna...I love this! When we were stationed in Montgomery, my son went and picked cotton and I saved it :)
